The Dutch EU presidency logo comes in two versions: 1. the version you see on the website:
It combines: 'EU' (European Union) 'NL' (the Netherlands) '2004' (the year) 'EU2004.nl' (the website address) 2. the version used in other contexts; also the logo of a multiyear publicity campaign being conducted by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The logo illustrates important relationships. Since it is about the European Union, the letters 'EU' figure most prominently. Europe is, after all, the whole point of the exercise. The Netherlands ('NL') is, like all the other member states, a full part of Europe. It does not aim to be the centre of attention, but its EU presidency will have distinctly Dutch features. The offline logo reflects this by including specifically Dutch elements, such as the colours red and white in combination with EU blue and the colour orange, clearly symbolising the Netherlands. The logo was designed by Studio Dumbar.
