The Dutch Presidency of the European Union - in consultation with Luxembourg as the next Presidency - has called on the Member States of the European Union to observe three minutes’ silence at 12.00 hours local time on Wednesday 5 January 2005, 10 days after the disaster struck Southeast Asia, and to fly the flag at half mast in commemoration of the victims of the catastrophe, and in solidarity with the population in the affected countries. |
