During its presidency of the European Union, the Netherlands will present the arts and culture programme ‘Thinking Forward’, in order to forge closer cultural links with the new member states. Cultural exchange, a pillar of Dutch foreign policy, strengthens cultural, political and economic ties between the Netherlands and other countries.
The expansion of the EU to include ten new member states on 1 May has led to increased cultural diversity, with the addition of the rich cultural traditions of Central and Eastern Europe. The Dutch presidency will therefore welcome the new member states through an arts and culture programme. Click here for the ‘Thinking Forward’ website. |
